Discoveries

Spanish literature of the early-modern period is marked by the outstanding quantity and quality of writing about the experience of travelling to and colonising the New World. As part of the ground-work for the project The origins of the Novel in Spain, we felt it important to access as many as possible of the key texts of the discoveries in electronic form. This work is on-going, but we are using this site to make available as many as possible of these texts in formats which will enable other scholars to gain easy access to material which has not been easy to access in the past, partly because it status as ‘literature’ has been problematic.
